The Crash and Burns
My first reset in Earth 1A began in the fall of '98 where I joined my first alliance ICNxTGA and met my first few friends there. Even with a years worth of previous experience playing this game, I was very much in awe of the 1A environment and I quickly became attached to its atmosphere. William and TheDog were amoung the first few people I enjoyed playing with, along with my leader Crash whom made my stay in ICN enjoyable. But naturally in my youth, my ebullience would prove to be more deceitful than beneficial to my alliance. I asked Crash for his approval to lead a division. I was discontent with the inactivity of the alliance and chipping in seemed like the right thing to do. After 3 weeks past, with still the indecision to remodel teams, assign leaders, and take an active role in leading the alliance, my childish, teenage nature turned me in the direction of SOL; I was invited to join SOL in one of the war chats against RD that reset.
The Fighter Kindled - SOL
SOL was the alliance that bred my fighting nature. Being around the jokesters such as Banks, Wanderer, Steam Cat and the quiet KFC made this alliance enjoyable, attacking the enemy 10 - 20 times a day while incorporating SOL's ideals into my Earth religion. Aside of having laughs, killing countries, spamming the boards and making friends, by far, the most priceless friendship gained in SOL was with Crusader.... us hitherto, running around 1A like two mischievious brats that have never found the hidden cookies marked on the treasure map. With the reset drawing near, Banks expressed a novel idea for a fighting division outside the SOL tag. In reality, this division was the Clowns division within SOL. NorCal and Al-Man's presence played an important part in the next couple of events that would have changed history had they not stepped in. Banks was offered the job War Minister of SOL - a job that divorced Banks from Clowns. Under no circumstance was Banks allowed to be SOL's War Minister and also the leader of Project Clowns. The cards were dealt, and I decided to create the new alliance, OD (Order of Druids) with the help of Wanderer.
Order of Druids
So here it was, the villian's big chance to lead an alliance. I contacted all those I could on my contact list (very little at the time) and made as many friends as possible. The two SOL branch off's became good friends and allies which will result in the OD/UBN war vs SOL later on. In OD, I filled my lungs the first breathes of being an alliance leader. Roughly 50 members strong, I was very happy and grateful of what was amassed - but in a short period of time. In OD, the word "loyalty" suddenly slapped me in the face. The Loyalty to friends, but by far, the loyalty to those that played along-side me was what drove me to work hard as a leader and devote all my spare time to. I worked hard for the next couple of months training as many people as I knew how to and keeping the peace, all until the OD/UBN vs SOL war. Axil (known as UBer Mute) was accused of spying on SOL while also holding the position of War Minister in UBN (United Brotherhood of Nations). He was also accused of leaking important info to SOL's enemies at the time, LaF in particular. Myself and Wyeme spent hours trying to rectify the situation with SOL, all to no avail. Wyeme, as many of you know, is very protective of his members and sought to protect Axil - (SOL's stance was to either kill Axil's country ourselves or they would do it for us.) I committed to Wyeme in this dilemma and the decision was made to attack or be attacked; OD/UBN launched the first attacks on SOL shortly after SOL's stand on the issue. SOL called in several allies and OD/UBN were crushed. The Druids started to leave, many of them leaving for the new alliance MD that had made an impressive debut in the community.
reGrouping the Druids
I asked the remnants of OD to regroup in TIE. In his era, Inferno commanded my respect for what he stood for, and by leading the strongest outcast alliance there was at the time (under no coalition). Those that came with me into TIE as a division were called the "Elite Royal Guards".
- Diamond Dog
- dirty Dog
- Baby Blue
- Guardian
- Rock
- FobBoy
- TheDog
- Vince
- T Bone
- Crazy Horse
- Midie
- Absolute
- Pringle
- Blade
- LoD
Some of these people seem familiar (especially without their makeup on). The Dogs came from CF - the alliance taken over by Lord Detritus, and were my closer friends at the time. Diamonddog and Dirtydog asked a lot of questions and kept me active in teaching and all was going well until TIE got smashed by HAN's first strike. Our group of 16 were by far the most active hitters, successfully penetrating HAN countries and attacking with twice the effort of the rest of the TIE divisions (we followed our own attack strategy). The main TIE strategy was very weak at the time - attack top 10 HAN countries until they drop rank. Not only did 100% of those attacks on HAN's top countries fail, but the military losses had seemingly no effect on the HAN. Top HAN countries would grab TIE acres and increase their land and their military by cashing at the same time, gaining positive millions of networth instead of the contrary. Overall, TIE lost the most that reset, and fell into a severe setback - no longer one of the top 3 contenders as best alliance. [edit] Birth of WoG
After TIE, I found myself as a ronin. I met up with Crusader that reset and our friends came to MD's front poarch. I compare MD to my 5 hour long programming classes - but what they teach you there is beautiful. - Discipline - - Netgaining - - Dedication - - Networking - , were the skills I reformed myself with and worked on to improve. A reset later, I had fled my classes in MD to meet up with my friends again "Clowns". Banks was back in control and his dreams came true. No longer was he limited to what he could or couldn't do and I was very happy for him. Banks also met up with the "Dogs" earlier and they were also in Clowns upon my arrival ---which I flopped my name into "3d", "D"-"D"ay-"D"og <-- to suit the "Dogs" (I was studying WWII at the time). After my stay in Clowns, Crusader and I met up again to create a small group of netgainers, "WoG" or Wrath of God. (name picked by Valkyrior, my rl best friend).
WoG was a netgainer only alliance, ironically at least 70% of WoG's were newbies to either the game itself, or to 1A. To make this part of the story short, WoG is what tied everything together - consisting of 18 rl friends and later on, 30 of my online friends. **If you are reading this story guys, AYE! HALLO!** =)
The only problem with 70% newbies is that if I got burnt out, it would be hard to find a replacement - which in the course of 2 resets, I was in dire need of a break. WoG spent the next two resets in MD, and I took my break which was that best thing I had in a long time.
Monks collaspe
A relentless guy named Cloud messaged me everyother day to join his new alliance "Monks". Cloud and I had met earlier before back in the reset when EoS lost Scarface and on the verge of their breakup. Cloud was very convincing and managed to pull me out of retirement. I was hesitant on making my presence known so I went under the name "Macbeth" and only when I found that my access to MD was removed completely by MD's purge of inactives - did I find myself committing to Monks full time. At the time, Chump and Marty were leaders and within almost no time at all, I was given the internal relations job. Things only started to wear and tear when only 2 retal's were being done out of 50 hits on us and Chump and Marty fighting it out. The funny thing was that it seemed like both were fighting to get rid of Monks than to gain control of it =), but either way, both had stepped down as leader leaving me at the helm with Instigator co-prezing with me. Shortly after, Marty came back and wanted his president status back again after I had reformed Monks back into retal'ing properly, assigning divisions and placing us back into being stable. It was something that I don't blame him for - as it was partly his alliance to begin with, but I wanted Monks to vote on who would be the newly elected Prez. Around half the leaders votes were made and it looked to appear that I would win the election when the thread was suddenly deleted and my access was terminated. The heads in Monks placed me and Instigator back in charge and Marty's account was then terminated and the tragedy of Monks took place.
A lot of people wonder how the Monks vs Clowns war took place as I had my ties to Clowns. The answer can be found in my personality - how I am overly protective of those that I lead than any other. Monks had joined TF not too long before a landfarming incident on Clowns emerged. TF had a conspiricy to farm Clowns because of their lack of power to retal - unfortunately Banks thought I was apart of this operation and ordered retals and LG's on Monk countries, a few cases with over retals. When I asked Banks what happened, he told me that the NAP was now void and it was fair game. We resolved the complex issues in TF and our relations and things went well until the second time Clowns attacked us because the new NAP was terminated. Many of the Monks saw this as a flagrant challenge, and as much as I hated to attack my old friends, I had to decide what we were going to do. The news was obvious, several Monks had LG'ed Clowns - or retal'ed Clown attacks on us. Clowns saw us as the aggressors and we saw them the same (esp. with the newly terminated NAP). Attacking Clowns was the majority confirmation and we rallied.
Silver was in Monks that reset; All the top Clowns countries would have been wiped clean (most of them with 100k tanks MAX, no SDI, no spies, minimal turrets), but the most crucial blunder in the surprise attack was the disabling of ALL the Clown's missiles the night before attack time. It gets a bit more tricky down this road, so the summary would be, Instigator offered to pay reps for the blunder, reps were declared "late" by Clowns when communications broke down, and Clowns attacked Monks on a first strike ---> Ragnarok and MoFoTUSK attacking shortly after. I had made good friends in PoW that reset for assisting us in the war, and it will always be a question for me as to why the war is remembered as Monks vs Clowns and Ragnarok, rather than Monks and PoW --- PoW did an outstanding job taking out 25+ Ragnarok countries and the total kill on both sides were the same.
Birth of IX
A man that had once inspired me to mimic his alliance style reappeared in the Earth community. Scarface had always served as one of my role-models in charisma and unknowningly, I think it was my charisma that end of the Monks reset that convinced him not to join Cult and to create the alliance IX with me.
As many of you have heard, IX is not Monks, because in reality Monks was just a splinter with departed members scattering all over. The new IX consisted of 25 regathered WoG, 15 EoS, 10 FBI and 10 Monks. While talking with Scarface and planning for the new reset, Zen and his FBI had also come into the picture. Zen and I had always gotten along and it was about time to test what kind of a chemistry could be unleashed. The first reset of IX was strong and stable. IX's loyalty to specific groups kept the tribe tight - Scar, Zen and myself bringing in the resources we could to help make IX a success. What IX now stood against was an exterior force, rather than frequent internal turmoil of most new alliances. From the factions of IX came our allies and all our enemies, and the phoenix alliance was not popular to begin with. That reset, two of our friends needed our help - Arrow, and Clowns - (that needed it the most). I felt it was my obligation to patch things up for old times sake with my friends in Clowns. Shortly after IX helps Arrow with SYN (Arrow's allies were shortly coming in their support), we turned our attention towards UCN, attacking them alongside the Clowns. That war was close, but UCN prevailed as the victors in it. It only seemed like IX grew stronger because of the war - the victor for us was making the difference and balancing the sides - making the war a close battle. I think the greatest achievement personally was that I could make up with my friends in Clowns and patch up what I had brushed off the previous reset while the victory of IX was that we made a presence.
Reset two of IX
Scarface picked up the pace and worked hard during this summer while I kept up. Both of us brought in several recruits and we were 150 members in-site, 125 members tagged up. I took two weeks off for vacation in mid-reset and came back on the exact night that GIM declared war on IX, TIE declaring war on IX one day after. The two first strikes were enough to call in two of our friends, MD and RAGE... and that pretty much ended it. Overall, I'd say that this 2nd reset was more of a bonding and learning reset than anything, and it established IX's position as a power in the community - which now have yet to be written. We brushed out a lot of inactives and FBI and EoN departed us with their own fantastic adventers that now awaited them... they have been missed greatly, and someday our paths will cross again.
I'd like to dedicate the last portion of my history to those alliances that have made a difference in my gaming experience.
