History
He bagan his earth career in 1B, making a name for himself by always been ruthless ingame and making a multitude of threats on the Earth-Talk boards, but usually following them up. He was recruited by El Paco to take over the leadership of LaF following Daniels retirement.
With LaF's recent strong victory in 1a, Gramberto knew that many feared LaF as well as that many would be gunning for them. He decided to take advantage of this by signing many interesting pacts. An example of one such one was with Omega.(LaF may grab Omega 1x per time with no retal, should Omega grab a LaF it is dealt with x2 retals)[editor: such pacts were not uncommon at the time]. He also took advantage of it by setting up a no land grab policy for the Dons (the fighting branch of LaF) - the Dons were allowed to grab and expected to play agressively, but outside landgrabs on the Dons were not tolerated. Before the end of that second reset, Gramberto would manage to pilot LaF into a major gangbang, and in the process create the RoCK family, the first major coalition in 1a, dawning the coalition age.
The war had several starting points. Gramberto's co-leader, Dal, got tired of playing the good cop to Gramberto's bad cop and stepped down. Now Gramberto was the only face of LaF, and without Dal to smooth ruffled feathers, the situation quickly deteriorated. Four countries suicided on Gramberto's country. SOL, looking to gain closer relations with LaF killed them (land kills, since population kills were impossible at the time). Gramberto incorrectly took this to mean that SOL was behind the countries and declared war on SOL (the reality was that the 4 countries were someone's throw away multis, and Gramberto had many enemies who did not hesitate to use such tactics). SOL had already fought RD earlier in the reset, and were not in fighting condition, but were joined by their FDP, SG. At the same time as the SOL saga was unfolding, Don Rackman attempted to steal tech from an Omegan, Tafkas. His was caught on one of his ops and Tafkas retalliated with two hits on Rackman's country. LaF, not believing that Rackman had done the spy ops retaliated Omega's retals. Omega (with RoCK's backing) declared war on LaF and was joined by RoCK and TGA. Simultaneously, a retal dispute with HAN led to HAN declaring war on LaF. During the war effort, RoCK brought all three factions (RoCK/TGA/Omega, SOL/SG, and HAN) into a coalition and reestablished their dominance in 1A.
Gramberto appointed Viper as his co-leader, but the fall out from the disastrous war, both internal and external led to Gramberto resigning from LaF in the early days of the Winter 1998/1999 reset. Viper, bowing to the wishes of his membership turned LaF into a passive netgaining alliance, and LaF would never again be a military force in 1a.
Gramberto retired from LaF at the end of that reset turning over leadship to Viper. He had felt that he accomplished what he had wanted to, turning all the hatred towards LaF towards himself, considering himself a martyr. Unfortunately not many, including LaF players saw it this way and began to openly critisize him.
To get "even" he decided to gather a group of multies and bots to suicide on all LaF countries for three resets.
Gramberto played his next few resets in general peace acting as an advisor for MD and a number of smaller clans before joining 1b again.
