Earth History
Hanlong first played Earth 2025 in 1997. Originally playing only the tournament server, he eventually finished rank 3 in the August 1999 reset when he quit from the tournament server for good.
Earth: 2025 Era LaF History
Neal, a friend from Hanlong's high school, was a LaF member and recruited Hanlong to the alliance server to play in LaF in late 1998. Hanlong finished in the t50 the first reset he played in alliance. After recruiting a sizable group of members from his high school into LaF, he was promoted to DL in 1999 to lead this group of RL friends. He rose to Head IA in late 2000 and served that position until 2002.
Hanlong took a short break from the game and came back at the end of 2002 and became the Head FR of LaF. He became the Don of LaF for the first time in 2003 and served until 2004 when he stepped down and served as an advisor role and played on and off until 2007 before retiring.
Earth Empires Era LaF History
Hanlong came back in the end of 2010 to serve as an advisor, but quickly taking over Head FR the next reset and became Don again, a position he held until May 2, 2012.
Achievements
A strong netgainer, Hanlong has placed t100 and t10 multiple resets throughout all eras and won alliance a total of 5 times during the October 2003, March 2006, January 2007, August 2011, and most recently the April 2012 reset*.
Cheating/Hacking Scandal
On May 2, 2012, the game administrators announced on Alliance Talk that Hanlong, with assistance from former game administrator Turtle Crawler, had gained access to the game's database, allowing the two to view all countries without requiring the turns needed for spy operations, change anything in any of the countries, and view private messages sent via the Earth forums as well as those sent in the game itself. With this level of access, Hanlong was also able to read and possibly change private messages and other communication in qzGT, Evolution's hosting site. Also, at an unspecified time, Turtle Crawler allegedly gave Hanlong full access to Boxcar, allowing Hanlong to potentially view and possibly change anything in the forums or private messages sent between members of all alliances hosted by Boxcar.
The implications of such knowledge over most of the alliances were serious, as it potentially meant that LaF had recently obtained its top spot in the Alliance server with the help of information obtained with this access. In the 3 resets leading up to the scandal, LaF had embarked on a series of wars designed to put LaF in the top spot of the Alliance server and keep it there. Countries ran by Hanlong and Turtle Crawler were allegedly modified by the two, giving one country an extra 10 million troops. However, since the tracking logs were on a rotating basis, it would be nearly impossible to determine if any other countries had directly benefited or were otherwise changed by Hanlong's and Turtle Crawler's access.
Upon the posting of the administrators' announcement, Hanlong's Don access to LaF was immediately revoked, and his country was deleted. *Also, his top-ranked country from the reset before was deleted, as it was possible that it benefited from Hanlong's ill-gotten database access. Both Hanlong and Turtle Crawler were then permanently banned from the game.
