Earth: 2025 Free For All Era
Origins
The alliance known as the Soldiers Of The Apocalypse® got its start in late October of 2000, During a period of time when the founder of SOTA was running a tag known as NATADO. The Soldiers Of The Apocalypse name came into existence in the midst of a small skirmish with UPA. Later during this conflict Unforgiven left NATADO and started the tag SOTA and proceeded to kill UPA's top countries. Later after the killing stopped and Unforgiven and Europa of UPA entered into negotiations, Unforgiven retagged her countries back into the NATADO tag assured that there will be no future conflicts between NATA/SOTA and UPA unaware of what was next. The next day MPE attacked NATA killing all countries between $1 million and $7 million networth. Unforgiven seeing this as an indication that NATA wasn't ready for FFA yet, she later took as many members as she could and merged the alliance into SworDxTC. Around seven months later in March of 2001, Unforgiven (known by Slash at that time) left SworDxTC to join the Dragons of Light. Upon her arrival she was appointed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, things went smooth between Slash and DOL until after the April 5 set when DOL and Leaders of Earth United merged to form DUEL (Dragons & United Earth Leaders). After two weeks of the mergers success, Slash got into some problems with some members of DUEL and after tensions created too much pressure she resigned her position as Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and subsequently left on April 18, 2001.
April 2001
As soon as it was announced that Slash would be starting SOTA, she encountered Tempest who wanted to use the tag to suicide, and she had declined his request. Later on Tempest asked if she was serious about starting an alliance and joined. Later on Slash had made him a Co-President and the alliance began taking shape. Slash later applied for an EzClan site and after 24 hours of getting the new SOTA site had been set up, Slash immediately began recruiting. After a few hours some people who would later turn out to become the core members of SOTA applied to the site, later on when the command structure and site layout had been completed SOTA boasted more than twenty members and 300 countries wthin fourty-eight hours of its existence.
By the middle of the set SOTA had grown to become a massive alliance, by the alliance's second set the alliance was rushing head first into the summer of 2001 with 39 members and 597 countries with new members from RA, RAGE, TSE, HARRY, and USIMPxTC, and other alliances who have joined SOTA. During the June 21, 2001 to August 31, 2001 set things were moving fast with SOTA... As if by some strange twist of fate during the early hours of June 28, 2001 our Internal Affairs department caught a spy within the ranks of our alliance. Slash later got a contact from one of her friends who happened to be operating inside xDoEx, after she had talked with him more it as revealed that xDoEx had infiltrated SOTA and not believing the information she asked to see for herself. After logging into the xDoEx site she later learned that xDoEx was planning a surprise attack on SOTA. Returning to her alliance she removed the spy, and paged all of her members breaking the news to them. Later on working with her contact she set up plans for a pre-emptive strike... the date for their surprise attack was July 11, 2001 at 23:00 Central. She planned SOTA's surprise attack for July 4, 2001 at 23:00 Pacific (which would be 01:00 Central). Anyways, when July 4, 2001 came SOTA struck xDoEx with all of the forces they could muster (478 countries) completely catching them off-guard, and tagkilled their alliance (278 countries) in less than two weeks.
Later after the start of the September 2, 2001 set Mehul started his sweeping of multies and SOTA was hurt badly when more than two-thirds of the alliance lost their countries to Mehul and his sweeps. SOTA managed to make replacement countries afterwards and kept going strong in the game. By this time things were going well until the September 11th attacks had happened, alot of SOTA members were shocked and saddened by the fateful turn of events but they kept going. The next day SOTA members discovered 24 dead countries killed by five tags which totalled 512 countries (302, NORDEN, AEU, SPxSWE, and 1UNITED), after killing the countries used in the kill runs (105 countries) Slash (now going by Shi) had given them a warning to stop, but even after the warning they still continued hostilities against SOTA. So on September 15, 2001, Shi declared war on the combined force of all five tags, and with their 449 countries (this was after she had recruited a few new members) they faced off against them. The war lasted until the end of the set where on November 16, 2001 SOTA defeated all but AEU who had surrendered and pulled out of the war. Later on the kills were counted and the end results were amazing.
SOTA lost 292 out of 449 countries leaving them with 157.
3O2, NORDEN, SPxSWE, and 1UNITED lost all 407 of the countries they had*. AEU having lost 79 out of the 105 countries they had* leaving them with 23 countries, was the only alliance left standing after the entire conflict... After finishing off the 5-way tag team, ZDH came out of retirement and restarted xDOEx and decided to try and finish what they started the set before. After SOTA got into gear they killed a large number of them, Shi having killed 212 of them adding SOTA's number of kills to 619 before xDOEx gave up.
Later after that conflict ended we were hit unexpectedly by Gateway and xTBRx. xTBRx was only 55 countries so we decided to kill them all, and ended up making the conflict go on for a day and a half before SOTA killed the last of them.
- Aside from the countries killed in the initial war, the countries killed before the war will be listed with the kills from the war (e.g. 3O2: 118 (+31) Kills).
In all these are the kills per alliance along with the kills before the war:
- 3O2: 118 (+31) Kills
- AEU: 79 (+24) Kills
- SPxSWE: 74 (+31) Kills
- NORDEN: 68 (+17) Kills
- 1UNITED: 68 (+12) Kills
- xDOEx: 212 (+0) Kills
- xTBRx: 55 (+0) Kills
Total: 674 (+115) Kills During that very impressive set SOTA had racked up a total of 789 kills before the set finally ended. Shi would have rounded it off to 780 kills had the set not ended sooner.
SOTA later went on to the November 17, 2001 set where after a significant drop in membership, SOTA plummeted in rankings completely... Shi being determined to hold on to what she had talked with a friend and after a series of chats SOTA had become a subclan of UNIxTC using the tag SOTAxUNI.
Things went well for a while until things started looking pretty bleak. Later on in the set Shi maganed to find some luck after picking up a friend, Trunks Bu who had played in the Standard Server with her a couple years earlier. After talking with Trunks Bu, he convinced Shi to leave SOTA so after leaving the SOTA tag in the hands of her VP's, Shi and Trunks Bu had decided to join the Brotherhood Of Destruction where Shi stayed until December 22, 2001. After Shi left BOD she fooled around a bit and joined the Insane Multi Posse (IMP) after almost two years of being away from them, she stayed with IMP until December 30, 2001 and left to play alone in the tag RONINxSF until January 7, 2002 when she joined Law and Order and was appointed as the Head of their Foreign Affairs Department.
Januray 2002
Shi stayed with LaO until January 29, 2002 until one of her senior leaders (Ridgeracer Boi) had asked her about SOTA's condition. When told that the alliance had taken a durastic turn for the worst, he told her he would come back from his vacation to help recruit more members and make an effort to get SOTA back into the Top 25 if she would come back. She informed the leadership she would be leaving and with their good blessing they let her go back to SOTA with an FAP. After getting an unused site (because HxDx occupied the old SOTA site on EzClan) from a friend Shi had all of her members join the new site. Later as fate would turn out Shi regained a good portion of her pacts with her allies except DWAR, later SOTA became a subclan of NBKxTC to gain some protection and a good footing in the game.
During that set a small rivalry between BOD and SOTA began and the two alliances traded land for most of the set. During the April 1, 2002 set Shi and SOTA kept a low profile, mainly because the alliance was still recruiting and small in numbers (around 105 countries). At the beginning of the June 7, 2002 set SOTA was declared independent by NBK who had left TC (The Coalition) in the middle of that set. At the beginning of the August 6, 2002 set Soul Stealer without informing Shi had placed the site onto NBKFFA.COM and made SOTA (using the tag SOTAxU for that set) a member of the United We Stand coalition. During that set the UWS coalition came under heavy fire by LOTU, Sphexi in particular after a few weeks Raskalnikov declared war on SOTA and later after maiming a series of countries Raskalnikov ended the war. A day later Sphexi and LOTU declared war on SOTA and killed a large amount of countries until NBK intervened and declared war on LOTU for (not having a concrete reason for a DOW and) killing a UWS coalition member. After the conflict Shi was given some countries from UPxTC and Desert Eagle and later managed to end the set with a Top 25 ranking in Average Networth. During that set Shi managed to gain two new members who by Shi's standards were novice netgainers. she took them in and helped them through the set with a revised strategy of hers, after some progress the two Ah Jue and Cyberstorm became very good netgainers placing countries in the top 1000 rankings in their first set. Thigs went well for SOTA for that set and Shi with her two newest gainers managed to place SOTA into the Top 25 in Total Networth, this being the first time in over a year where SOTA had placed itself in the Top 25 for Total Networth.
During the October 8, 2002 the alliance had picked up a few new members and things were going smoothly, especially since SOTA had gained a pact with UMPE. Around the middle of November two suiciders one Potomac the other Mr. Bittersweet (Sphexi) had declared war on SOTA, Shi being asleep at the time of the DOW had no idea a war had been going on for the last 18 hours. Later after logging into the site and checking the news she had realized what was going on and began fighting back, However due to her hours at work she couldn't effectively kill countries from either the BTRSWEET (Bittersweet) or POTOMAC (obvious) tag. After asking GPA who had intervened in the war to back off Potomac backed out of the war after about two days, Mr. Bittersweet who had been fighting against SOTA had pissed off PANLVxTC and was summarily tagkilled by them. After the SOTA vs POTOMAC & BTRSWEET war ended a few of Shi's remaining countries were commandeered by a suicider who used them to hit NHDPxTC. After retagging to xSOTAx the same suicider had hacked more of Shi's countries and used them to hit TAKERS, TAKERS not taking any chances had killed all but 10 countries in the SOTA tag.
After sitting the rest of the set out, the December 8, 2002 set started and SOTA picked up where it had left off last set before the SOTA vs POTOMAC & BTRSWEET conflict. Shi not having as much time to play still due to her hours at work didn't get much time to play her countries while the others in the tag didn't get the time to make their countries. Still wary of what happened the last set Shi kept a low profile using the tag SOLDIERS, seeing as the server still showed SOTA's Top 50 rankings from the previous set. Shi playing alone this set managed to play through the entire set with all of her countries intact but didn't manage to break the Top 25 in any category.
February 2003
After the February 5, 2003 set started Shi and her existing membership as with some new recruits made in upwards of 600 countries only to have them deleted in the first week of the set. After having her countries deleted Shi, who was planning to sit the set out was told by the manager of the apartment complex she lived in that the apartment complexes were going to be demolished around the beginning of June. After moving all of hers and her girlfriends things to a storage unit, Shi and her girlfriend had moved in with her friend Diana until she could find a place. A week after moving in with Diana, Shi was activated by the Air Force and was sent out, the membership of SOTA wondering where their leader went stayed around for a week after she talked to them last and had posted they were leaving SOTA.
Shi having been gone for the last set finally came back to Earth and SOTA in the middle of the April 1, 2003 set in late May, where upon contacting several of the leaders had been told a large number of SOTA members had left the alliance because hey didn't know where Shi was. Shi sitting the rest of the set out had managed to recruit a couple of those who had dissented plus some new members before the set ended. With the new set on the way Shi had finally left the Air Force after serving for five and a half years at Los Angeles AFB, with her rank as a Master Sergeant (E-7 for those of you with no knowledge of the military) and could finally devote her time to SOTA.
Shi finally having time to play after the start of the June 5, 2003 set made her countries and began recruiting for membership, Having some luck she managed to recruit two new members before the set officially started.
During the June 2003 set Shi managed to place SOTA into the Top 25 in all three categories for the first time in years, surpassing USIMP for most of the set until almost 50 countries were deleted for inactivity toward the end of the set causing a massive drop in rankings. Aside from the shortcomings near the end of the June 2003 set, it was the moment for those who were former members of the alliance to see what it would have been capable of had they not left SOTA nearly causing the alliance's dissolution in November of 2001.
September 2003
Things went well for SOTA for the time between May and August of 2003, within time though it had seemed as though the pressures of outside life had taken a hold of her. Within the first week of September she had left for Michigan to help a few of her long-standing friends, Since then she has only been able to use the internet sporadically through the local library. While Shi had lost all form of contact with her friends online, the headquarters for the Soldiers Of The Apocalypse® (SOTA) was given to another party for use as their HQ for a while. Eventually their alliance, the SAINTS of Endless Revolution, which was in another game (Endless Revolution) merged with another alliance and ended up changing sites, and everyone from SAINTS just stopped visiting the SOTA site altogether.
Shi, wanting her site back had finally contacted Ciscosmok through AIM Express and managed to regain ownership of her site... When Shi finally got back into her site she was amazed at the messed up condition the site was left in. Since the end of October, Shi has been working on a major project and hopes to get it off the ground before the summer of 2004.
January 2004
After coming back from a long four month self-imposed vacation after her internet had up and died on her, she began a project to rebuild Soldiers Of The Apocalypse® or at least start a new alliance in its place.
Upon returning to Earth: 2025 on January 7, 2004, Shi was told by a friend through AIM to check out the Bugs & Suggestions boards for Mehul's post regarding Free For All, not knowing what lay in store for FFA she checked the topic to find that Earth: 2025 FFA would be deleted permanently at the end of the set on January 11, 2004. So after learning the news of the Free For All Server's fate, she began to talk to the remaining members of her alliance in talks of what road the alliance should take, during a long chat some of her members said they'd stick by her no matter the route she or her alliance took. Eventually the decision came down to taking the alliance to either TEQ or Elite Soldier: Free For All, so after the Earth: 2025 FFA server was deleted effectively killing Soldiers Of The Apocalypse®, and every other FFA alliance that existed in the FFA server. With the end of the Free For All server, the Soldiers Of The Apocalypse® alliance entered into a brand new era stepping into the brave new world of Elite Soldier FFA.
June 2004
Eventually after some time, Mehul decided to re-open Free For All again and Shi, coming back under the username NightShade decided to reform one of her older alliances Angels Of Destruction, managing to achieve Top 25 rankings in Membership, Total Networth and Average Networth in their first set. After the conclusion of that set, NightShade spoke with WarTime, then the leader of Mindless Self-Indulgence also known as MSI, and agreed to a merger. At the beginning of the set the new alliance Mindless Angels of Destruction (AODxMSI) became a massive alliance with a total networth of $775 million, outdoing everything NightShade had previously accomplished with SOTA in one set. After a period of three sets, AODxMSI merged with TAWNN to become Angels & Mindless Tyrants also known as AMT.
January-April 2005
After the merger of AODxMSI and TAWNN that resulted in AMT, NightShade went on a sabbatical for a while and left the leadership to Dallas and WarTime to deal with some of the issues she was having in real life, primarily having to move to a new home. Ryuko, being unaware of the events in FFA, WarTime had gone on hiatus to settle some of the issues with his marriage and left the leadership to Dallas and Patriot, who was one of the leaders of TAWNN that came over in the merger. During this time, Patriot took it upon himself in the absence of both to allow Bopper into the alliance and shortly thereafter Patriot and Bopper suicided Natural Born Killers aka NBK from the AMT tag resulting in AMT's total annihilation by NBK.
After NightShade returned from her hiatus, she found that the tag had been utterly destroyed and made an attempt to regroup the alliance under the AOD tag again with limited success. Seeing that there was too much controversy surrounding the tag, NightShade tried in vain to get the main core of members to come to AOD, and after playing through a set with a handful of members, she decided to wash her hands of Free For All and played solely in the Earth Council server.
Earth Empires Free For All Era
Round One: January-March 2010
Shortly after the beginning of February, Murasakiiro Kotani was informed by Red X that Earth: 2025 had been replaced by Earth Empires, and that it had a Free For All server. A natural skeptic, she checked out the site and within minutes decided she should peek around on the forums to see how many people were playing. Seeing that a lot of the old school players were playing the Free For All and Alliance servers, she started contacting a few and was told by a few notable Earthers, namely Crippler and Desperado that she should play again and reform SOTA in Free For All. So, taking their advice, she made her fifteen countries and tagged under the SOTA tag.
Round Two: March-May 2010
After playing through the previous set, NightShade managed to recruit a fairly decent amount of players from Free For All, Alliance, and Mars 2025, and obtained a BoxCar site. After getting the core command structure established, the goal was simple: netgain their asses off... and netgain they did. During this set, Asylum of Dark Templars and The Syndicate declared war on Natrual Born Killers, while Insane Multi Posse and Death Knights declared war on Fuck Off Cuz Ur Stupid and because SOTA was pacted to both sides of each conflict vowed to stay neutral, so as to avoid severing pacts with either side to appease the other as NightShade believed that honoring pacts meant more than playing to politics.
At the end of the set the results were amazing, with only sisty-six countries Soldiers Of The Apocalypse under the tag 'SOTAxDC' to honor Dark Carnage, had attained a Total Networth of $1,184,332,998 and an Average Networth of $17,944,439 being the highest total networth ever attained under the tag.
Round Three: May-June 2010
At the end of the second, Gazza` left SOTA under amicable terms as Survival Of The Fittest had formed in Free For All, also with NightShade's unwillingness to commit SOTA to the server-wide conflict previously in the set, they lost their pacts with Asylum of Dark Templars and The Syndicate, with the membership dropping by nearly half between the end of the set and the beginning of the new set, the alliance survived through diplomacy and with the addition of their Secretary of Foreign Relations, Seraph playing that set. This set went largely uneventful with SOTA barely managing Total Networth of $33.2 Million, and an Average Networth of $1.2 million with twenty-seven countries, hardly the stellar performance given during the previous set.
Round Four: June-September 2010
During this set, with the recruitment efforts of NightShade meeting with little success, the alliance managed to go through the fourth round uneventfully though this time with a vast improvement in Total Networth at $94 million, and an Average Networth of $2.94 million.
Round Five: September-November 2010
During the fifth set, things were plagued with problems from the beginning as NightShade's girlfriend, deciding on her own, to help the alliance by creating a second account from a library computer under the user name "Frost", a previous user name of hers, created sixteen countries. After less than twenty-four hours, both sets of her countries as well as those of NightShade were deleted for rules violations. After appealing to the administrators, NightShade and Purgatori were granted the right to play again under the provision that it never happened again or face a delete & ban from the game.
Restarts and Playing Catch-up
After the initial frustration of losing her countries when she was playing legitimately, unaware of Purgatori/Frost's actions, NightShade and Purgatori restarted and began the task of catching up to everyone else and doing everything within their power to keep from being considered as farmland.
Quitting in frustration
After meeting with the frustration of trying to recruit after being hit with the stigma of being labeled as cheaters, NightShade quit midway through the set and decided to focus on getting the issues she was dealing with in real life instead of ignoring them through playing the game.
Shortly after quiting, Murasakiiro Kotani and Victoria 'Cross' moved from their scant one bedroom apartment into an honest-to-god spacious two-bedroom apartment (finally a place to put both computers without crowding the hell out of the living room! XD).
Round Six: November 2010-January 2011
No real history as no one from Soldiers Of The Apocalypse was actively playing under the tag, as Murasakiiro Kotani and Victoria 'Cross' were not actively playing.
Round Seven: January-March 2011
Upon returning to the game, on February 4, NightShade and Purgatori began playing again, with the Masterful SworDs of Justice tagged MasterC in rememberance of one of their founders who'd passed away. During this set, SworDs was looking for a war and found it through Xtinct, a seperate tag of Sanctuary FFA, tagged SancTFFA. During this war, the Masterful SworDs of Justice started with a good counterstrike, but after losing all 204 of their original countries, it became a war to keep restarts long enough to get within striking range of their smallest countries. During the waning days of the war, the Masterful SworDs of Justice and Xtinct agreed to a cease-fire and all hostilities ceased.
The Kings Order vs. Masterful SworDs of Justice Conflict
After hostilities with Xtinct/SancTFFA ended on or around March 9, a new conflict arose with The Kings Order over a members' overzealous retalling, escalating into kill runs against TKOwnd, resulting in The Kings Order initiating a devastating kill run on MasterC's Top 50. During this period of time the unity between the membership in the alliance began to unravel.
The formation of The Infernal Army
On or around midnight of March 10, NightShade and Purgatori mutually agreed to leave SworDs in favor of forming a new provisional tag, something visibly separate from Soldiers Of The Apocalypse to afford a higher chance of surviving to the end of the set as previously in the set, NightShade had been suicided across the Alliance Server, Free For All and Express.
The Infernal Army merge with The Killer Elite
On March 20, NightShade and Cheesy agreed to merge their tags to form a merger of their respective tags The Infernal Army and The Killer Elite to form Infernal Killers Elite Army under the tag IKEA.
IKEA becomes SOTA
On March 24, All members playing under the Infernal Killers Elite Army tagged over to the Soldiers Of The Apocalypse (SOTA) tag, as someone had leaked the information to Free For All Talk, NightShade, figuring that since the secret was out, had everyone retag as SOTA.
Round Eight: March-May 2011
A rather uneventful round with SOTA finishing the set with $330,441,472 Total Networth and an Average Networth of $10,326,296
Round Nine: May-July 2011
SOTA... netgaining?!?
NightShade and Seraph under the SOTA tag, with advice from Rockman had both achieved new records for personal total networth.
- NightShade's Personal TNW for Round 9: $423,245,811
- Seraph's Personal TNW for Round 9: $418,094,352
During this impressive set, NightShade and Seraph surpassed SOTA's previous ANW record of $17,944,439 with a new record of $26,291,880. While having surpassed the Average Networth record for SOTA, they still fell short of achieving or surpassing SOTA's Total Networth record of $1,184,332,988. Even without being able to surpass a Total Networth of $1.19 billion, achieved under the SOTAxDC tag NightShade and Seraph still managed an impressive Total Networth of $841,340,163.
Round Ten: August-September 2011
A rather impressive set, given that two weeks into the set, the Insane Multi Posse issued an ambiguously worded declaration of war, one without naming whom they were at war with. Being completely oblivious that SOTA had been targeted in IMP's "war", NightShade didn't realize there were any hostilities until coming home from work to find IMP in the middle of a kill run on her countries. Fast forward a week later, all of her original countries dead, as well as five batches of restarts, and after some heated trash-talking and later an apology a ceasefire was reached.
Having to start over from scratch three weeks into the set, NightShade made every effort she could to catch up in networth to Seraph, who was at best an average of $5 million NW ahead of her on all of her countries. Still wary of any possibly confrontation that could conceivably occur, she bulked up on military just to be safe. After spending the last ten days stockpiling, she was able to catch up to Seraph in networth, but was still an average of $2.6 million NW per country behind.
SOTA joins Elysium
After the end of hostilities with IMP, NightShade had begun hinting around at the idea of merging SOTA into another alliance for a while so she could have somewhere where she could learn to netgain in peace. After approaching a few alliances, she narrowed her choices down to Pandora's Last Vikings, King Of Nerds, and Elysium. After not being able to get in contact with some, she settled on Elysium.
Having concluded the set with a Total Networth of $679,958,610 and an Average Networth of $21,248,707, NightShade and Seraph had decided to take a break and merged SOTA into Elysium at the end of the set.
