ARROW's foiled war against TIE in World War IX led to the development of an enmity between both alliances. ARROW was incensed that TIE called in Elitez to help defeat them during that world war, and TIE wanted to prove that they could defeat ARROW on their own. Both sides agreed to a war on the following December 2004 - January 2005 reset.
The War; TIE Achieves Victory
ARROW granted the smaller TIE the FS advantage, even though ARROW had a considerable networth and members advantage. TIE FSed ARROW, and meanwhile ARROW also landed a strong CS on TIE. Both alliances took on heavy damage and it seemed as if ARROW was getting the upper hand. However, TIE's participation and better target selection led TIE to win the battle of the breakers and to establish a disparity in breaking power in favor of TIE. TIE used this, along with increased activity, to win the war and hand ARROW a second consecutive defeat, their fourth within 12 months.
Aftermath of War
The victory furthered TIE's claims to great power status and solidified them as a new great power that needed to be taken seriously. Also, yet another defeat against an opponent of better quality solidified ARROW's status as a preferred punching bag of top alliances. They stopped being considered a serious power and instead were identified as a paper tiger.

ARROW tried to recompose itself after the defeat and enjoyed a reset of peace during February-March 2005. During this time they helped Omega win their second war with Steel by sending them considerable loads of foreign aid. In the meantime, TIE was strengthening and ready to lay a bigger claim in Earth politics.

Two sets after their second war, ARROW and TIE experienced different paths. TIE was now a member of Project Arcturus and was a main coalition fighter during World War X. They FSed several alliances and won all their campaigns, meanwhile ARROW was again defeated, badly, during this war. ARROW then announced its collapse and ceased operating as an alliance after 6 years of history.

The Second ARROW-TIE War was the second to last of ARROW's great wars, and yet another sour defeat for ARROW. While TIE's victory against an opponent of ARROW's measure gave them more political benefits than military recognition, ARROW's defeat in many ways signaled the future death of the alliance. Defeat against TIE confirmed to ARROW's own members and leaders of their downward spiral, and their later defeat in WWX was the death knell that ended it all.

IX started this war and it was essentially decided in the first 48 hours. IX unloaded 10,760 hits and 60 kills on Arrow and the latter’s breaking power was virtually destroyed in the first strike. The war lasted for weeks and Arrow did show opposition. Nonetheless, their breaking ability was destroyed from day one and they could never recover from it. The war was decided on the initial attack and the war’s duration was a result of Arrow not surrendering rather than Arrow actually fighting back in force. At one point, IX thought about opening a second front against UCN once it was clear that ARROW could not win.

Mercenaries, Incorporated
Technically the first real clan Azz joined, although he was in a two person tag for a few months. The other half of the two person tag grew bored of the strategy, and Azz was recruited by Effiniti to join the Mercenaries, Incorporated. With such an awesome name, there was no hesitation, and Azz was on the Mercs website in short order.
In short time, Azz realized that his calling in Free-For-All was not to netgain, but, like so many others, to kill. While dabbling in the finer arts of the early netgainer, Azz was much more successful with his killing and spying. On kill runs, he earned the nickname "The Truck" for the numbers of kills he managed to garner in a short period of time.

Ajmilton: adjusted bad link to nonexsistent category "Missile Attacks"

attnav

Attacking is an action you may perform with your country against other countries. An attack consists of sending military to attack a country, which yeilds some return, either capturing resources or destroying them, depending on the attack type. There are three classes of attacks, Normal Attacks, Special Attacks and Missile Attacks. Normal Attacks include Standard Strikes and Planned Strikes; the special attacks are Guerilla Strikes, Bombing Runs and Artillery Barrages; and missile attacks include attacking with Cruise Missiles, Nuclear Missiles and Chemical Missiles.

Standard Attacks
Standard Attacks are used to capture a percentage of another countries land and resources, usually called landgrabbing.

Standard Strike
Standard Strike
Troops, jets and tanks may be sent on a Standard Strike (SS). A successful attack will capture 3-8% of your opponents land, buildings, money, technology and food. Opponents that are smaller or larger in relation to your own country's size will yield less returns, and countries closer to your networth will yield more.

Each attack yields less land and resources captured. This is called Diminishing Returns.

Repeated Standard Strikes against the same opponent is called farming and will likely result in hostile attacks from the individual country and/or the clan they are a member of.

Planned Strike
Planned Strike
A Planned Strike (PS) is similar to a Standard Strike in that Jets, Troops and Tanks may be sent to capture another countries land and resources. The key difference is that Planned Strikes give your military a 50% attacking strength bonus and capture a higher percentage of land and resources. This bonus comes at a cost, however, and any military sent on a Planned Strike will be in rehab, and this unavailable for 20 hours following the attack on the Alliance Server, and 10 hours on the Team Server. (Please add values for other servers)

5 Planned Strikes may be sent at a time. Each Planned Strike results in a Brigade being created, which is visible on the Military screen. Once 5 Planned Strikes have been sent out, no further attacks will be possible until one of your Brigades comes back out of rehab. Once a Brigade comes out of rehab, it is automatically absorbed into your main army.

Special Attacks
Special Attacks are used in times of War. These attacks do not directly benefit you, but are used to destroy your opponents land and resources. Many individual countries and clans will retaliate with similar war attacks if you use these attacks against them.

Guerilla Strike
Guerilla Strike
Only troops may be sent on a Guerilla Strike (GS). A successful GS will kill portions of your opponents population and destroy some of their food supply. Only an opponents troops are used to defend against GS's.

Bombing Run
Bombing Run
Only jets may be sent on a Bombing Run (BR). A successful BR will kill portions of your opponents population and destroy some of their buildings. Only an opponents turrets are used to defend against BR's.

Artillery Barrage
Artillery Barrage
Only tanks may be sent on a Artillery Barrage (AB). A successful AB will destroy a portion of your opponents buildings. Only an opponents tanks are used to defend against AB's.

Missiles
Missiles are special military units that may not be manufactured on demand, do not require the use of oil, nor lower a countries' readiness when deployed.

Missiles are developed by chance and one of any, or all types may be awarded during any turn played. It is entirely possible to develop 1 of each kind of missile during a single turn.

The likelihood of the development of missiles can be increased with investing in Warfare Technology.

There are three missile types used;

Nuclear Missile - Abbreviated NM - Used primarily to destroy land.

Chemical Missile - Abbreviated CM - Used primarily to kill population.

Cruise Missile - Abbreviated EM - Used primarily to destroy military units.

Declaring War
A country may choose to declare war on another country. If a country declares war, it will have to pay $10 per acre per turn in expenses while it is in a state of war. Declaring war bypasses GDI restrictions and gives the country a 10% military strength boost against the country it declared upon. To end war, the country must declare peace: this can be done either 48 hours after war was first declared or if the country that was declared upon dies. Note that the country was declared upon will be able to attack the aggressor without worrying about GDI.

Declaring war is used in war for breaking, in country to country wars, or to perform gdi farming.

GDI and other restrictions
GDI
Countries may join GDI to limit the countries which can attack them. For more information, see the article on GDI.

Protection
For the first 99 turns, all countries cannot be attacked, spied upon, make attacks, do spy ops, or sell on the public market. Once a country plays its 100th turn, it leaves protection.

Vacation
While on vacation, countries cannot be attacked or spied. For more information, see the article on vacation.

Humanitarians
Countries may only attack or spy on countries within their humanitarian range. For all servers except tournament, if the target is more than 12 times or less than 1/12 the attacker's networth, the attack will be stopped. For the tournament server, this limit is 8X. This restriction cannot be bypassed except by adjusting NW to get in the proper range.
