Paradigm Retal Policy

The following is the retal policy of Paradigm on the alliance server.

*Paradigm only accepts (and performs) retals in a 48 hour retal window.
*Paradigm retals 1:1 and only accepts 1:1 retals for cross country retals (when the retaller is not the country for whom the retals are being made).
*Paradigm escalates retals on an entire tag basis in a 48 hour window. The first six hits on Paradigm by any countries in another given tag to any countries in Paradigm will be retalled 1:1. The seventh, through twelfth hits from the same given tag against Paradigm will be retalled 3:1 each. Paradigm does not accept more than 12 attacks from any tag in a 48 hour window.
*Paradigm retals land:land (L:L) for country:country (when the retaller is the country for whom the retals are being made) or standard escalation, whichever yields higher results for them. Paradigm only accepts L:L retals for country:country retals (not factoring in ghost acres). L:L retals stop once 80% of the land has been recovered if buildings make up 20% of the land lost. All L:L retals must be land grabs of the same type. Mixing SS and PS is not allowed for L:L retals. Any DH CANCELS L:L claims.
*Paradigm retals retal on retals (RoRs) double normal grabs based on how it fits into the escalation scheme described above. A RoR on a L:L retal is retalled L:L+1. Paradigm only considers attacks made on a country within 24 hours of that country making a retal to be a RoR. After that the attack is considered to be a random landgrab.
*If an alliance puts a country of it's own into diminishing returns that has hit Paradigm within 48 hours and Paradigm has not yet retalled they will take the land from someone else in that alliance.
*Paradigm will only accept responsibility for detaggers for 48 hours from detagging. They only hold other tags accountable for detaggers for 48 hours from detagging. The exception to this is if a member of the alliance from which the country detagged is still allied to countries from that alliance then that alliance is still culpable for the detagged country's actions.
*In Paradigm policy there is no such thing as a topfeed. Their basis is that the definition of a topfeed is irrelevant for L:L retals and if the country itself isn't getting the land back then the returns aren't important as the person who suffers does not receive the reparations and the land is free land for the retaller.
*Paradigm does not have a set standard to define when to maim, farm or kill a country. For example after five attacks from a country and they might think about killing it but it depends on the nature of the hits and what they feel the country's intentions were. Paradigm states that they do not need legalese authority to kill something if it is giving them grief.
*Paradigm accepts any 1 attack for any 1 attack that shows up in the news and reserves the right to retal under the same principle. If a Paradigm country grab you, you can retal with an equal number of attacks of your choosing such as but not limited to ABs, Cruise missiles, etc as long as the number of hits match up. This can also be applied in conjunction with the escalating hit policy.
*Paradigm does not recognize the in-game action of declaring war as affecting the number of retals owed. Their reasoning is that declaring war only hurts the country who did it through increased expenses. It is equivalent to weapons tech that you only buy for a short period of time.
*Anything Paradigm signs in a pact supersedes these policies.

Paradigm Culture
Paradigm prides itself in standing up for its principles at any cost. When up against a superior force, Paradigm has been known to use unconventional tactics such as AB and spy op first strikes. The members of Paradigm enjoy the scrappy, underdog reputation that is frequently associated with the alliance. Paradigm is known for not backing down when provoked. One of the most important events in Paradigm's history was the perpetual, seemingly suicidal war waged against Reservoir Dogs when that alliance was dominating the Earth 2025 Alliance server through unapologetic cheating. Though other alliances have acted similarly, Paradigm is the only surviving alliance to wage such a war.

Because its leaders maintain an environment focused on the community rather than external politics, Paradigm boasts that it is the most fun alliance. According to the latest data posted by Pangaea, Paradigm's has the most active member forums on Boxcar Hosting.

Member Rank Structure
Paradigm Rank Structure

Paradigm has the most elaborate internal rank system of any other Earth alliance. The current system features an RPG-style of 'leveling' through the ranks by collecting medals earned through milestones and competitions both in-game and in-site.

Leadership Structure
Paradigm has an oligarchical leadership structure composed of one or more Directors administering the Overlord Council, a group of past and present heads who work together to steer the alliance. Sir Detmer was the first Director of Paradigm after implementing the current system. Detmer maintained Paradigm's historically autocratic style of organization, which was previously manifested as a President presiding over the Senate.

Paradigm has a War Council composed of members and leaders who share the responsibilities of strategic planning and running warchats.

Retal Policy
Paradigm Retal Policy

Paradigm was the first alliance to experiment with mixed country:country and alliance:country retals, based on whether 1:1 or L:L was taken.

History
Paradigm was founded by Comwood after the three way split of Prisoners of War (PoW) into Paradigm, The Evil Odyssey and PoW. To be continued...
