Server Information
- Description: Earth Empires IRC
- IRC Server: irc.earthempires.com
- Ports: 6667
- Group: EE
- Add the server
Connecting to IRC
Make sure you've selected the server you just added and go back to the connect tab. Click the connect buttom.
Once you are connected, in the status window, you can join a channel manually by typing /join #earthempires. If you were instructed to join a room with a key, type the key after the channel name: /join #somewarroom key
Aliases
Connecting Faster
Click on the scripts editor icon.
Adding: /ee /server -m irc.earthempires.com makes an alias so the command /ee will automatically start the connection process. Another such example could be: /gs /server -m irc.gamesurge.net.
Authenticating
Adding the line: /eeauth /msg nickserv identify yourpassword will send your nickserv identification information instantly when you type /eeauth. From a security point of view, it is not recommended to keep plain-text passwords in insecure places such as this, however no secure method of automatically authenticating with nickserv is currently possible with mIRC. The safer way to easily identify yourself is: /eeauth /msg nickserv $1. Now to identify you would simply type /eeauth yourpassword.
Connecting to Multiple Servers
One of the disadvantages of mIRC is that connecting to multiple servers is not as straight-forward as one might hope. This script makes mIRC connect to multiple servers when you startup the program:
By Script
- Open mIRC, hit ALT-R. That'll drop you in the remote section.
- Fill in something akin to this:
on *:START: {
server irc.earthempires.com
server -m irc.gamesurge.net
server -m irc.scourge.se
}
This will connect you to irc.earthempires.com, irc.gamesurge.net and irc.scourge.se when you start up mIRC. Add/remove server -m lines as needed. GeneralEarl has provided an mIRC script for connecting and authenticating to multiple servers automatically.
Manually
/server -m irc.earthtools.ca
or
/server -m irc.earthtools.ca -j #somechannel
Would open an new status window and connect to irc.earthtools.ca. The -m is important as this tells mIRC to open multiple status windows. Additionally, after the server name -j and a channel name -j #somechannel would connect to the server and auto-join #somechannel.
