Game Documentation
Documentation of game functionality belongs on pages of their own. This would include almost anything in Category:Basic Gameplay. These pages should contain content about how to play the game from a new player's perspective. Links to strategy pages are acceptable in some cases, but the official game documentation is reserved for basic (static) information about what the available functions in the game do; not so much what to do with them from there. The reason behind this, is that eventually we plan to bridge the (antiquated) in-game help system to wiki. These pages need a slightly different standard.
Strategy Pages
Strategy pages are not game documentation. They are a less monitored community-written page. From one player to the next, strategies differ and arguments can arise between what is fact and what someone believes is fact (or better for them). It is precisely for this reason that there must be a separation of game documentation from strategy.
Player Pages
Player pages are usually used to record the history of players who have (in some cases) done something notable. Secondly, they provide a way for players to make sort of their own customizable profile page. Player pages are not strictly monitored or checked for facts. You don't even need to have done anything (excitingly) notable to have a player page. Anyone can make a player page for themselves or another. They are there for fun just as much as they are there for historical purposes. There's just a couple of things about player pages that need to be noted:
- You should read Help:Player Pages before creating/editing player pages if you haven't already done so.
- Player pages are not to be used for defamatory or insulting material. If you can't keep it respectable and relatively clean, your contribution(s) will be removed. Subsequent vandalism will result in a timed (or permanent) ban from editing the wiki.
- Unless you are positive that somebody wants their ICQ, MSN, E-mail, Skype (or any) type of contact information revealed, do not post it. If somebody has blocked this information in their forum profile page, there is a good chance this information is not meant for the public.
Alliance Pages
These revolve around the same type of ideals as player pages do. They are all player-submitted content; intended (but not limited) to recording the history of the clan. They are loosely monitored for vandalism or general mischief. Facts are rarely ever checked in an official (moderator-type) manner.
