Stonewalling, or 'walling' for short, is the main method of self-preservation used to postpone the death of a country during a coordinated attack meant to result in the death of that country (also known as a killrun). Stonewalling can take the form of many options, but most stonewalling is usually done by the owner of the country that is being killed. While the main goal of stonewalling is relatively simple (stay alive for as long as possible), the methods of stonewalling are quite complex, and require a firm knowledge of warfare to pull it off to its full potential. There are several methods of stonewalling used in Earth:Empires, and several of these methods must be used simultaneously in order to achieve the greatest effect.
Methods of Stonewalling
Under the radar
Here, the owner of a country under attack generally tries not to let his/her enemies know that he/she is online and watching their every move. This method of stonewalling requires a more methodical approach, and an additional goal of stonewalling is apparent here--make the enemy waste as many turns and resources as possible while killing the country. This is usually achieved by the owner buying up small amounts of defense during the early stages of the killrun. However, if the owner of the country being killed has logged off recently, and can use the minuscule amount of turns gained in the meantime without giving him/herself away in the process (a farmer running turns during a killrun utilizing BRs, for example), the owner can have several of his allies send Foreign Aid (FA) to his/her country, which will usually result in several attacks being repelled, the enemy using more turns gathering information from spy ops, thinking the country just received FA, and resetting the amount of units required to send for successful attacks (or, break). Whether or not the owner decides to use FA as a means of wasting the enemy's time and turns is usually dependent on how much time the owner has on hand.
