In Earth Empires, cheating is considered unethical. Cheating takes on many different forms, but Earth Empires explicitly states the following as cheating:
(See the official game rules for additional information).
Running multis
Multi is short for multiple accounts. This is the oldest known form of cheating in any game, and is widely condemned on Earth Empires. Game moderators have a robust arsenal of tools and scripts available to eliminate cheaters.
Running bots
Bot is short for Robot, but a 'Robot' in relation to the game, is a piece of software that performs automated tasks to gain an advantage over other players. Some bots are more sophisticated than others. During the BotWars era, most known bots made running multis easier, thus making it easier to kill stargets. The need for market camping bots has been eliminated since standing orders were implemented in January, 2010.
Babysitting
Babysitting is the act of logging into an account that is not one's own. Earth Empires rules specifically state that one should only have access to his or her own account. One could babysit for many different reasons, such as to save a country that is under attack when the legitimate owner of that country cannot log in, or just to send aid to another country. Whatever the reason, babysitting is illegal, and is widely condemned.
Hacking
Hacking is of course the worst offense, as the actual security of the game is breached to obtain passwords, access mod accounts, or to provide some other form of unnatural advantage or disadvantage to players and/or staff.
