TIL War I (2002)

TIL War I, or the First Ivy League War, was a server conflict fought between The Ivy League and an anti-coalition led by ARROW, RAGE, Steel and the Sons of Liberty, from June 21 until July 20, 2002. Seventeen alliances and thousands of players were engaged in combat. The war ended with a strategic Ivy League victory and permitted the coalition to dominate the server until TIL War II.

Origins of the War

Tensions had been high between both groups since the TIL's gangbang of TGA on May. The coalition decided on acting based on information that the Union might attack TIL, and thus TIL's Big Three (IX, MD, and SoF) took the initiative.

TIL Attacks and Controls War

SoF began the war by attacking Steel on June 21. The Union, headed by ARROW, RAGE, SOL and Steel, then counterred SoF in masse, just as MD was declaring war on ARROW and SOL. IX then entered the war and attacked RAGE. The Union and TIL then called up its allied reserves and soon the conflict evolved into a world war. Ten TIL or TIL-associated alliances (Elysium, IX, LCN, M4D, PDM, Quebec, RED, SoF, TF and TSE) were up against the ten alliances that composed the Union and their allies (ARROW, ICN, Kindred, Masters, Militia, RAGE, Ragnarok, SOL, SoP and Steel). The initial TIL offensives by SoF, MD, and IX set the advantage for TIL, and the Union was overrun by the end of July. The war ended on July 20 with a total Ivy League victory.

Aftermath of the War

The anti-TIL was defeated in this first war but they were not decisively beaten. Their anti-TIL posturings remained and strengthened just as TIL's forces began to weaken when IX and LCN left the coalition in August. No war took place on the reset immediately after TIL War I, but a second war followed in November-December where the strengthened forces of the anti-coalition prevailed.
