Self-landtrading

Self-landtrading is primarily a FFA landgrabbing strategy where two countries exchange attacks, and due to the ghost acres created by attacks, both countries benefit from the exchange of attacks. Intra-alliance landtrading on the alliance server falls into this category, and there is too much distrust between alliances for pre-arranged inter-alliance landtrading to have been tried out yet. Self-landtrading is differentiated from self-farming by both countries benefitting from self-landtrading, whereas if one country benefits and the other suffers, the exchange would be considered self-farming.

Self-landtrading is far more efficient when done with two countries of the same strategy, since they use the same buildings. Building costs for countries involved in self-landtrading are very high, and trading with a country which uses different buildings would add significantly to this already burdensome aspect of landtrading.

The dictator buildings gained bonus is very beneficial for landtrading countries, but their BPT penalty is very burdensome for countries that will already have to build more buildings than a similar sized country that does not engage in landtrading.
