In Earth Empires, friends come with benefits! Many new players will find that playing outside of a clan, or being in an unknown and unestablished clan (on alliance-based servers) can result in a less-than-extraordinary gaming experience. The simple fact of this post-apocalyptic world, is that land-hungry empires prey on the weak and undefended. The strong and powerful strive to grow their empire and the ruthless will stop at nothing to achieve it!

−
The types of relations (aka pacts) you may have with other countries are Defensive, Offensive, Research, Intelligence, and Trade. Each of these will benefit you and your friends.

Most alliances (also called 'tags'), have experienced members who can provide new players with the knowledge, experience and (possibly) protection they need to learn the finer details of the game. What many new players often don't get to see right away, is the political structure between alliances. These player-defined policies govern what constitutes acts of war, the reparations and retaliations of attacks, all the way up to inter-alliance pacting.

Basics in Defence
−
You MUST defend your country, otherwise you can expect to be attacked frequently by other countries.

−
* Defensive Defense - Have enough units with defensive attributes to keep others from attacking you. (most common)

−
* Offensive Defense - Have so many offensive units a player is scared to attack you.

−
* Tag      Defense - If you're in a strong alliance, that can be defense enough! However, if you rely on this and war comes you'll be in a tight situation. (very effective)

Spies
−
Spies are very important in the game. Their main purpose is to spy on other countries so you can find out their military and economic capacity. Also, special spy operations allow you to steal, destroy, and negatively affect other countries' military, goods, and economy. The strength of your intelligence operations is based on the ratio of spies to land owned, known in-game as "Spies Per Acre Land", or simply, "SPAL". The higher your SPAL, the more likely your operations will succeed, and the less likely other countries will be able to use their spies against you. Spies are very expensive for your country to upkeep.<br>

Sell on the market
Most strategies rely on selling on the market. Each server has different rules for the speed your product gets to the market, so read up on the rules for your server.

Private Market
The Private market is an internal market- these goods are bought/sold within your country. Building military bases and buying military technology will alter the prices on this market. It's key use is in the "Reseller" strategy.

Public Market
−
The Public Market contains goods that are put up for sale by players. The purchase prices are usually much lower than the prices on the private market. The prices will vary with the current game economy, so keep this in mind when buying and selling. A great resource to watch market trends is EEStats.com. <br>

Earth Empires Story

It was early in the 21st century; the world economic super-powers were locked in a race to consume and own as much of the planets natural resources as possible. It began with food prices soaring. Families in once rich nations, were beginning to starve by the thousands. The price of other valuable commodities soared, eventually bringing an already weak economy to a grinding halt.

People began to take to the streets, as there was virtually no work available. Crime rates began soaring, and an increasing number of riots were beginning to happen more and more often. The police were starting to battle large violent mobs on an almost daily basis. In many cases, some countries had no choice but to incite marshal law. This all began to take its toll on governments' pocketbooks as the cost of security was ballooning enormously.

Smaller governments began to crumble under the intense financial pressure. People fled to areas where work and money were still trickling. With many of these smaller countries' governments failing, enormous numbers of military personnel had abandoned their posts, either in search of other ways to feed their families or in lack of confidence of their respective governments.

This effect cascaded, and eventually the larger powers began to war with each other over the smaller areas where no formal government was established. Nuclear tensions rose to critical heights, while commodity and economic issues continued to burn deeper everywhere. People died by the thousands on a daily basis.

With the larger countries expanding too quickly and beyond their means, it became apparent that sustaining large numbers of military forces in remote areas of the world would not last long. At the final moment of desperation, one of the global superpowers began to launch a massive worldwide nuclear strike. Of course, this action was only repeated by the others left at the top. A catastrophe of epic proportions ensued, and any remaining state capitols were abolished within hours.

At least a couple of decades have now passed, and small communities are beginning to spring up all over the planet where arable land and resources are available.

It was by your own good judgment, and excellent leadership abilities that you have taken control and founded a small, yet sustainable empire of your own. Your people's trust and love for you is infallible, as you have given them the direction needed to rebuild a successful civilization. Some of our neighbors however do not share in our interests, and now, my leader, it is time for you to ally yourself with the powerful, and conquer our enemies!

What is Earth Empires?

Earth Empires is a persistent browser based country simulation and strategy game. Thousands of players are locked in a struggle of politics and battle to gain and maintain power in a post-apocalyptic world! As the most experienced and respected leader of your people, your duty is to build a successful country and ally yourself with other (stronger) countries, and defeat your common enemies!

Game play is simple. Using turns, you can perform many actions to build your country and attack others. There are 5 basic aspects of gameplay:

Managing Your Country

Choose your government and take direction! Do you want to be the leader of a large, peaceful Republic, or a large Communist industrial machine? Do you want to make friends or spread tyranny across the world? Of course, the possibilities are so much greater! create a country and find out for yourself!

Economics

Your lands are capable of bringing you great wealth and fortune! You must decide what to produce; whether thats food, oil, military units or technology, and sell some on the public or private markets. Market competition can get fierce!

Offense and Defense

Building a powerful military while maintaining your country's economic sustainability requires tact and planning. You cannot afford to look weak in the eyes of potential opponents, so sacrificing safety to save a few bucks can result in deadly consequences! Ally yourself with the powerful, and crush your enemies!

Country Relations

Maintain steady relationships with other empires. You will need allies who help defend your country so you can maintain the lands of your empires. You can also formulate trading treaties in order to trade with other empires or to send them much needed resources when they are in trouble.

Will your allies help you? Or are they just there to gain from you? Will they maintain your partnership or stab you in the back because you are no longer needed to achieve greatness? These are all things to consider when dealing with other nations in the Earth Empires realm.

Clans and Politics

Experience the strong community the Earth game has always prided itself on!

Join or create alliances and learn how to thrive in world politics. Use your armies on a large scale to intimidate your opponents, share intelligence information or trade. On clan-based servers, people will be more than happy to help you learn the ropes of your country. Non-clan servers are better suited for hands-on learning types.

Rules

Dear player,

Welcome to Earth Empires, an online game which continues in the tradition of one of longest living text based web games on the net, Earth: 2025.

Before you read the brief information on our different game servers in Earth Empires, we would like you to take a moment and read the following general rules of the game (latest revision: November 16th 2011). The following policies and rules apply to every Earth Empires player. Any player who does not agree to these policies should stop playing immediately. Players caught breaking these rules may be subject to country deletions or other penalties. Game moderators are happy to explain why country deletions occur and will overturn deletions as necessary.

Players are only allowed to have one (1) game account.

One account provides full access to the game and creating multiple accounts is not permitted. In addition, players may not login to another player's account for any reason. Players violating these rules may suffer country deletions and account closures.

Proxy use

The use of proxies to login to your account is not allowed. Some players, such as those using satellite internet, may require the use of proxies to access the internet. We ask those players to contact us to request special exemption. We generally do not allow proxies because they can be used to facilitate ingame cheating.

Automated scripts, bots and macros

Earth Empires does not allow players to use any form of script, program, macro or other software tool to perform user actions in an automated manner. Scripts that enhance game play by helping users complete actions quicker, such as auto-form fill fields, are permitted. However, these must not play the user's country without user input. In addition, players are not permitted to collect news, scores, or market data with scripts or bots. For players who wish to use such data, the Earth Empires team grants API keys to developers. These keys can be obtained by contacting Earth Empires Staff directly via e-mail or through live chat. API codes are given out on a case-by-case basis: applying for a key does not automatically mean a user will be granted one.

Bugs and exploits

Earth empires is constantly undergoing aggressive development. The developers try their best to prevent bugs and exploits but occasionally one may slip through. Our players are expected to immediately report any bugs or exploits they find. Deliberately exploiting bugs for player gain will result in country deletion.

Ingame behavior

We understand that competition can get fierce and emotions may get heated, but we expect all players to show sportsmanship and to remain civil when dealing with other players. Players should behave appropriately in all areas related to the game, including in-game messages, affiliated websites, the game forums, and irc. Players who send offensive messages in-game will find their countries deleted and players who post offensive messages on the forums will find their forum accounts banned. In extreme cases, such as hacking or breaking other laws, players may find themselves banned from all game related areas.

Advertising

Advertising on the Earth Empires forums or in-game messaging system for products, services or other areas not directly related to Earth Empires will result in immediate deletion and account banning, along with the removal of subject messages from the Earth Empires site.

Safelisting

In order to accommodate players who are playing from the same household or workplace, Earth Empires has a safelist system to ensure legitimate players are not deleted upon suspicion of game rule violations. When playing from the same household or office, players should email the Earth Empires staff with the information of the multiple accounts from the same household or router. Please note that safelisted countries are under more scrutiny than countries not on the safelist. Countries associated with each other through the safelist are not allowed to interact with each other in-game. Examples of prohibited behaviors include allying together, sending FA, doing market buyouts, or attacking the same target. Countries created by safelisted users can, however, play in the same tag and participate in clan-wide kill runs. This policy is subject to review on a case-by-case basis as Earth Empires staff deems appropriate.

Please note: these policies are subject to change at any time.

Enjoy! -The Earth Empires Team.

Game Servers

Clan-based Servers

Countries not playing from within an established clan on clan-based servers will usually be attacked more frequently by other players! It is recommended that new players seek clans to play in on these servers. If you do not receive recruitment messages in-game, try introducing yourself on any of the Alliance,Free For All, or Team forums.

Earth Empires has six different game servers, each with their own particular set of rules and/or game constants. The general mechanics of countries on each server is constant, but each server has different rule sets which may allow certain things like clan play, or the maximum number of turns you may have at one time to name a couple. Depending on the server, these conditions will vary. This section addresses each of the server types and their individual nuances.

After you have created an account and logged in, you will be placed on the portal page. For now we'll just discuss each server and what they are. We'll also try to recommend which servers are generally better suited for newer or experienced players.

Clans and Friends

Clans are a fun way to meet new people and learn how to play the game. The more powerful a clan is, the more protection can be offered to its members. There is also a better probability these clans have the resources and people to train you to become a better player. On clan-based servers, countries with no clan affiliation (also referred to as "untaggeds"), are often ruthlessly bullied for their land. Unfortunately this is just the nature of the game. It is highly suggested new players find an alliance to play in as soon as possible.

Clan Recruitment

Clans will often try to recruit untagged players to join their ranks. If you have not been solicited in-game to join a clan, the forums would be a great place to introduce yourself to everyone and tell them you're looking for a tag to play under.

Clan Hosting Sites

Unfortunately, Earth Empires does not have very robust mechanisms available in-game to assist with things like general communications and news aggregation. A number of skilled players have developed tools and forum sites to make this type of data more easily available. (This is made possible through the game's API, however that is of little concern at the moment if you are just starting off.)

Site Information
Boxcar Hosting Boxcar is Earth Empires' most popular hosting site. It was also the brainchild of one of the game's head developers, Pang (although he has had the support of other quite a few players in building and maintaining the site). Boxcar hosts multiple alliances and is free for players to create sites on.
GHQ GHQ is Earth Empire's oldest hosting site, dating back to the days of Earth: 2025. It is not quite as popular as Boxcar, but is quite feature rich. GHQ also hosts multiple alliances, and is also free for players to create sites on.
Evolution 2025 Is home to the Alliance server clan Evolution. It was built by one of Earth Empires' head developers qzjul. This site is proprietary to Evo.
LKS Or LetsKillStuff.org, is home to the clan Imaginary Numbers. It is also clan-specific and does not provide hosting to other alliances. The site is owned and operated by the game forum and IRC maintainer iZarcon.
myCLAN Hosting Services Is a free clan hosting service for Alliance and FFA server clans. It has a wide range of functionality.

Non-clan Servers

For servers that do not offer clan-based play (Primary, Express, and Tournament), the game forums are used as an open discussion area. Each of these servers have their own forum for general discussion, but because many new players play on these servers, special forums were created in the spirit of clan hosting sites, which allows players to anonymously post partial country information, which in turn more experienced players can offer advice.

Portal Page

A portal to your countries on different servers.

Bonuses (voting)

Bonuses were implemented as a way to give players small gifts to improve their countries in return for helping promote Earth Empires. You will be notified at the top of the portal page when bonuses are available. When bonuses are available, it means you can vote for the game on game listing sites to receive bonus points. When you vote, each country on each server receives points to spend on bonuses.

Daily Bonuses

Voting sites allow bonuses on a daily basis.

Weekly Bonus

For participating on the forums, players receive 4 points for community interaction. This bonus is available only once a week and is awarded at 0100 game time.

See also: Bonuses - for what these points can be spent on.

Options (global)

The options on the portal page are your general account settings and affect your game account and all your countries. Here you may change these settings.

Change password

See password strength for information on choosing a secure password.

Attack Style

As of April, 2011, the war room interface was modified to increase hitting speed and reduce game bandwidth using JavaScript. It is now the default behavior for countries to use this interface, but you may choose the Classic interface or if you are on a mobile device, it has a specific classic interface of its own.

Select Menu/Header Scroll Style
